• Through the Wisdom of Filipina Martial Arts

This movement workshop will discuss and teach some techniques and philosophy from the ancestral martial arts lineage of the Philippines, known as Kali (Arnis/ Ekrima/FMA). Learn about how the practice is being reclaimed and utilized by women of color, the duality of weaponry as an expression of both art and war, as well as some of the basic strikes and partner drills of this powerful martial arts system. As a bi-racial woman, Joelle holds ancestry from the islands of the Philippines and loves to share some of her culture through martial arts.
