Meet your host, Debbie Zec, the driving force behind Dominical Surf School and the essence of Surf Muse.

Growing up by the shores of Dominical Beach, Debbie's life has been intertwined with the rhythm of the ocean. She started to teach surfing at the remarkably young age of 14. And by 17, she started carving her own path by establishing her own surf school. She surfed competitively in her late teens and early twenties, with national and international results that placed her among Costa Rica's top 3 female surf athletes and Central America's Top 5. These formative years gained her insight on performance coaching and a technical approach to surf training for all types of students.

In addition to her deeply rooted surf background Debbie is a proud Dominical local. She's a strong advocate for responsible tourism where growth is encouraged only in harmony with the environment and its communities. And once you get to know her, you'll find out soon enough that she's never afraid to speak up to protect these things that she holds dear. In doing so, she represents the very soul of Dominical and its waves.

Out of this unwavering passion for surf, the beauty of her hometown of Dominical, and her entrepreneurial journey as a female business owner, the idea for Surf Muse was born:
